Colorado coach Dan Hawkins laughed off the nationwide attention a Signing Day sound bite has brought him.
"I sort of chuckle a little bit at the exposure," Hawkins told RivalsRadio on Friday. "If you had the video portion of it, you would have seen that I sort of had a smile on my face.
"If I were the kind of guy that was going to lose it, we just went 2-10. I probably think I would have lost it somewhere in that 2-10 season."
When he met with beat reporters after National Signing Day, Hawkins relayed an anonymous letter from a parent who was "bummed out" the players received only two weeks of vacation rather than three before the summer conditioning program.
Hawkins, then raised his voice to emphasize his point: "It's Division I football! It's the Big 12! It ain't intramurals. You got two weeks after finals. You get a week at July 4. You get a week before camp starts. That's a month. That's probably more vacation than you guys [reporters] get. And we're a little bummed out that we don't get three weeks? Go play intramurals, brother. Go play intramurals."
