Rivals.com 2009 All-Pac-10 team

Entering the season, the Pac-10 was expected to be rich with running backs, and the league didn't disappoint.

Stanford's Toby Gerhart has made a serious push for the Heisman Trophy and led a competitive race for running backs spots on our All-Pac-10 football team. No doubt, Pac-10 second-team selections could be first-team selections in other conference.

Here is the 2009 Rivals.com All-Pac-10 team.

ALL-PAC-10 FIRST-TEAM OFFENSE
Particulars: 5-11/214, Jr. High school: Honolulu St. Louis
Buzz: Masoli is one of the country's premier dual-threat quarterbacks. He led the Ducks to the Pac-10 championship by passing for 2,066 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushing for 659 yards and 12 TDs.
Particulars: 6-1/235, Sr. High school: Norco (Calif.) High
Buzz: A Heisman finalist, Gerhart set school records and leads the nation with 1,736 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns.
RB LaMichael James, Oregon
Particulars: 5-9/180, R-Fr. High school: Texarkana (Texas) Liberty-Eylau
Buzz: Though he didn't break into the starting lineup until the third game, James has the seventh-highest rushing total in the nation with 1,476 yards. He rushed for at least 150 yards in six games.
Particulars: 5-7/185, Jr. High school: Richmond (Texas) Lamar Consolidated
Buzz: He was the Pac-10 leader with 87 catches for 1,004 yards and nine touchdowns.
Particulars: 6-1/195, Jr. High school: Springdale (Ark.) High
Buzz: The Trojans' explosive receiver averages 14.2 yards per catch on 58 receptions and scored six touchdowns.
TE Ed Dickson, Oregon
Particulars: 6-5/243, Sr. High school: Bellflower (Calif.) High
Buzz: He has caught 42 passes for 551 yards and six touchdowns for the Ducks. He also is a solid blocker.
T Chris Marinelli, Stanford
Particulars: 6-7/300, Sr. High school: Braintree (Mass.) Boston College High
Buzz: One of the nation's premier linemen, he starred on an offensive unit that led the Pac-10 in rushing and was second in the country in sacks allowed.
Particulars: 6-7/319, Sr. High school: Cypress (Calif.) Pacifica
Buzz: He came back strong from an injury to boost a Cal offense that averaged almost 400 yards per game and ranked fourth in the Pac-10.
G Jeff Byers, USC
Particulars: 6-3/295, Sr. High school: Fort Collins (Colo.) Loveland
Buzz: Byers, a sixth-year senior, has excelled at guard and shifted to center when help was needed there.
G Gregg Peat, Oregon State
Particulars: 6-3/295, Sr. High school: Mission Viejo (Calif.) High
Buzz: He is the top lineman on the Pac-10's third-highest scoring offensive unit.
Particulars: 6-2/300, Sr. High school: Gig Harbor (Wash.) High
Buzz: One of the few bright spots for the Cougars this season, Alfred was named Washington State's top offensive player in seven of their 12 games.
ALL-PAC-10 FIRST-TEAM DEFENSE
E Tyson Alualu, California
Particulars: 6-3/295, Sr. High school: Honolulu St. Louis
Buzz: He has 60 tackles and 7.5 sacks. He also forced two fumbles for the Golden Bears.
T Stephen Paea, Oregon State
Particulars: 6-1/285, Jr. High school: Los Altos (Calif.) Timpview
Buzz: He has 41 tackles, including seven for loss. He also has three sacks and has forced four fumbles.
Particulars: 6-2/300, Jr. High school: Los Angeles Crenshaw
Buzz: Among the nation's elite at his position, Price has 22.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks among his 43 tackles.
Particulars: 6-2/255, Sr. High school: Phoenix Thunderbird
Buzz: Though facing constant double-teams, Davis posted 23 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He also forced two fumbles.
LB Reggie Carter, UCLA
Particulars: 6-1/240, Sr. High school: Los Angeles Crenshaw
Buzz: He is the Bruins' tackles leader with 72. He also has eight tackles for loss and forced two fumbles.
LB Mike Mohamed, California
Particulars: 6-3/237, Jr. High school: Brawley (Calif.) High
Buzz: He leads the Pac-10 with 105 total tackles. He also has three interceptions and forced a fumble.
LB Mike Nixon, Arizona State
Particulars: 6-3/224, Sr. High school: Phoenix Sunnyslope
Buzz: He led the Pac-10's top-rated defense with 73 tackles. He also had three interceptions and forced three fumbles.
Particulars: 5-11/180, Sr. High school: Carson (Calif.) Mayfair
Buzz: Verner is tied for second among Pac-10 defensive backs with five interceptions. He's also third on the Bruins with 65 tackles.
Particulars: 5-11/182, Soph. High school: Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point
Buzz: He has five interceptions and four pass breakups. He also has made 66 tackles.
FS Rahim Moore, UCLA
Particulars: 6-1/197, Soph. High school: Los Angeles Dorsey
Buzz: He leads the nation with nine interceptions. He's also fourth in the country with 16 passes defended.
SS Javes Lewis, Oregon
Particulars: 6-1/185, Soph. High school: Tustin (Calif.) High
Buzz: He has 77 tackles, two interceptions and six passes defended. He also forced three fumbles.
ALL-PAC-10 FIRST-TEAM SPECIALISTS
K Kai Forbath, UCLA
Particulars: 6-0/192, Jr. High school: Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame
Buzz: A Lou Groza Award finalist, Forbath has converted 26-of-29 field-goal attempts and made all 23 kicks he has attempted inside 50 yards.
P Bryan Anger, California
Particulars: 6-4/202, Soph. High school: Camarillo (Calif.) High
Buzz: He has averaged 42.1 yards on 62 punts. He has a long of 72 yards, and has killed 22 attempts inside the 20-yard line.
KR Chris Owusu, Stanford
Particulars: 6-2/201, Soph. High school: Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian
Buzz: He's the Pac-10 leader and fifth-ranked return specialist in the country. Owusu averages 32.5 yards per return and brought back three kickoffs for touchdowns.

Buzz: He averages 15.4 yards per return to rank first in the Pac-10 and sixth in the nation. He has returned two punts for touchdowns.
