Warner on Cousins: 'He has been a rock'

EAST LANSING - Quarterbacks coach Dave Warner readily admits that Kirk Cousins was not at the top of the Michigan State recruiting board when Mark Dantonio and his staff scrambled to assemble their first recruiting class in 2007.

Five years later, it would be difficult to imagine what the Michigan State program might have looked like without Cousins leading the Spartans during his three years as a captain and starting quarterback.

"He has been a rock with the program for a lot of years," said Warner. "With the way he operates, he is not going to talk about that stuff (career accomplishments). With the success that he has had, with the success that he has had as a football player, obviously records are going to come with it. We are very proud of all that he has done here for sure. We are looking forward to the games that we have with him left here."
