Meador breaks down junior day visit

MADISON - Jake Meador had took a visit to the Wisconsin campus when the Badgers played host to San Jose State. While that trip went well, Meador thought his most recent one -UW's junior day Saturday afternoon - allowed him to gather more information about the program and campus.

Following his day in Madison, Meador took some time to chat with BadgerBlitz.com. The following is a question and answer with the 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle from Indiana.

To start, how did the day go and what did they have you guys doing?

Meador: Well, first of all they had us watching practice. It was more strength and conditioning, but then we went to some meetings and met all the coaches. We had lunch and we talked to the coaches more. We also talked to the players a little bit. Then we took a tour and met with our position coach and watched some film and stuff.

Obviously you sat down with coach Bob Bostad, but did you get a chance interact with coach Bret Bielema at all?

Meador: Yeah, I talked to coach Bostad and he told me that he wasn't going to offer me today, but coach Chris Ash, my recruiter, really likes me because he's seen me work in school when he came down there to see me. Coach Bostad wanted to come down in the spring and see how I work and then he'll make a decision from there. I talked to coach Bielema for about 10 minutes. He came up to me so obviously he knew me. He talked to me about where I would play and his wants and what they need for a recruiting class and stuff.

You said you had a chance to talk to some of the players. Who did you talk to?

Meador: I really can't remember the names. The players kind of sat in the front and James White, Montee Ball and the starting right guard (Kevin Zeitler) as well as a couple of other players that were freshmen and stuff. We just kind of asked them questions and stuff.

What kind of questions did you ask? Was it just stuff like how school is and how they like it there?

Meador: Yeah, it was stuff like that.

Was this your first time on campus?

Meador: No, I came up for the game against San Jose State.

What were your impressions this time?

Meador: I got to see a lot more of the campus this time. I knew it was a pretty big campus, but I liked it. Everybody had good things to say about it.

How is the rest of your recruitment going? Other than Wisconsin, what's the latest going on with you?

Meador: It's going good. I'm getting a lot of letters and stuff and talking to a lot of different schools.

Is Kentucky still your only offer at this point?

Meador: Kentucky? Yeah, they are. I'm getting more looks, though.

Are you planning on taking some summer camp visits?

Meador: In the spring time I probably will, but we'll just see what I do from there.
