Hot 11: Michigan State

MADISON - Wisconsin dropped a heartbreaking and gut-wrenching 37-31 loss at Michigan State Saturday night. In doing so UW's record fell to 6-1. Though it comes following a loss it's time for our popular weekly feature: The Hot 11.

The sixth installment of the 2011 regular season is based on momentum and individual play this season. One bad game won't necessarily move a player off, but it could cause a player to slide down the board as new players start to emerge.

By no means is the list perfect, that is why BadgerBlitz.com encourages everyone to head over to The Badgers' Den to offer their own opinions.

Rank Player The Word Last Game
1 Montee Ball, RB It wasn't his best game statistically as a Badger, but Wilson continues to hold the top spot because he's the cog that makes the nation's best offense run. Catching his first ever touchdown must have been thrilling. 1
2
Chris Borland, MLB All Montee Ball does is score touchdowns and rack up yards. The junior tailback has scored 32 touchdowns over the course of UW's last 12 games. Simply incredible. 3
3 Russell Wilson, QB How about Chris Borland racking up 15 tackles against Indiana. He also showcased his athleticism when he nearly hauled in that nifty one-handed interception. It's apparent he's settling into the middle linebacker position quite nicely. 5
4 Mike Taylor, LB Taylor, like Borland, continues to make plays at the linebacker position. More impressively, though, was the fact Taylor took responsibility for missing the call that allowed Stephen Houston to score from 67 yards out. That exemplifies leadership.4
5 Antonio Fenelus, CB Toon didn't play Saturday against Indiana as he rested his surgically repaired foot. He'll be good to go against Michigan State. 2
6 Jared Abbrederis, WR Abbrederis hauled in a game high four receptions for 63 yards. He also logged UW's first punt return for a touchdown since 2009. 11
7 Nick Toon, WR White played his best, and most complete, game of the season against Indiana. He rushed 13 times for 87 yards and a touchdown. A game like that should boost his confidence moving into the meat of the schedule. 4
8 Brendan Kelly, DE Bret Bielema said Fenelus is playing at the highest level he's seen out of the cornerback position during his time in Madison. That's pretty high praise for the senior standout. 9
9 Aaron Henry, FS
Henry logged his second interception in as many games against the Hoosiers. It's apparent the senior safety is starting to play pretty solid football for the Badgers. Michigan State's quarterback and wide receivers will be UW's toughest test yet. Henry will need to be on top of his game.
10
10 Louis Nzegwu, DE Even in a blowout Chryst figured out a way to keep Russell Wilson in the Heisman discussion. That halfback pass to Wilson for a score was a thing of beauty. 8
11 James White, RB Nzegwu finished Saturday's game as the team's third leading tackler. He's quietly putting together a solid senior season. Through six games he's tied with Brendan Kelly for the most tackles amongst defensive linemen. N/A
