KANSAS 21, UL MONROE 19 -----------------------

LAWRENCE, Kansas -- Kerry Meier passed and ran Kansas to a lead, then watched as it almost disappeared.

Meier passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as Kansas held on for a 21-19 win against UL Monroe.

Meier completed 16-of-27 passes for 185 yards and led the Jayhawks to a 21-7 lead late in the third quarter.

However Kinsmon Lancaster ran for a score with 1:18 left in the third, and passed for a three-yard TD to Zeek Zacharie with 3:31 to play in the final period to bring UL Monroe (1-1) within 21-19. However, his pass fell incomplete on the two-point conversion attempt that would have tied the game.

Kansas (2-0) ran out the remainder of the clock to clinch the victory.

Lancaster completed 24-of-41 passes for 377 yards and two TDs. He threw to seven different receivers including Zacharie, who caught four for 86 yards and two scores.
