Pros: Youboty has excellent size-to-speed ratio and displays improving intelligence to play in several schemes. He has the recovery speed to make up for mistakes and close in the deep game. He has natural athleticism for the position with a sound backpedal, flexible hips, generally good instincts. He can play the bump-and-run well and shows the toughness and talent to play a physical game overall. He is very good in run support and will come up and pop a runner as well as making open-field tackles. He matches up better with big receivers. He has good playing strength that he uses well to tackle. He will win many jump balls with his nice reach and leaping ability. He is instinctive when the ball is in the air, and shows fine recovery speed to make up for his mistakes. His hands are good and showed no problems catching the ball. Cons: His play was erratic in 2005, including some mental lapses and some big plays. He has a knack for allowing himself to overreact to pump fakes or double moves, especially by smaller, quicker receivers. His great performance against Michigan may have inflated his ego and lack of refinement on the basic techniques. He showed some improvement on reading routes, reacting to the play and making a break on the ball. Numbers: At the Ohio State pro day, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.18 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.96 seconds. He also had a 36” vertical jump, a 10’ broad jump and did 11 reps in the 225-pound bench press. As a junior, he made 56 tackles with one interceptions and broke up nine passes. He had 61 tackles, four interceptions, one sack and 14 passes broken up in 2004.
