Week 2 is upon us, and while there might not be as many big-time games as there were in Week 1, this still is a good week.

The highlight, of course, is USC's trip to the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio, to play Ohio State. The Trojans rolled over the Buckeyes last season in Los Angeles, and the Buckeyes are looking for some payback.

The weekend kicks off with a key ACC game tonight involving Clemson and Georgia Tech. There's an important game Friday night for Colorado, which played poorly in its opening-week loss to Colorado State.

Other key games Saturday include Houston at Oklahoma State, South Carolina at Georgia, East Carolina at West Virginia and Notre Dame at Michigan.

SATURDAY'S GAMES

Central Michigan (0-1) at Michigan State (1-0), noon, ESPN2
THE BUZZ: QB Dan LeFevour and Central Michigan did nothing offensively in a loss at Arizona last week. That offense needs to get cranked up if the Chippewas are to have any shot at the upset. Michigan State opened with a rout of Montana State.
THE LINE: Michigan State by 14.5. THE PICK: Michigan State 31-21.

Western Michigan (0-1) at Indiana (1-0), noon, Big Ten Network
THE BUZZ: This is one of 13 Big Ten-MAC games this season and one of three this week. This also might be the MAC's best chance at an upset of a Big Ten school. If QB Tim Hiller plays well - as in 250-plus passing yards - Western Michigan has a great chance at the victory.
THE LINE: Indiana by 1. THE PICK: Western Michigan 27-20.

North Carolina (1-0) at Connecticut (1-0), noon, ESPNU
THE BUZZ: While this would've been a great basketball game this past season, this matchup should be at least a good one in football. UNC's offense has a lot to prove, and the going could be tough against UConn's defense. The flipside is that UConn's offense won't be able to consistently move the ball on the Tar Heels' defense.
THE LINE: North Carolina by 4. THE PICK: North Carolina 21-10.

Duke (0-1) at Army (1-0), noon, CBS College Sports
THE BUZZ: The hounds get to take a trip up the Hudson. This is the dog of the week.
THE LINE: Army by 1.5. THE PICK: Duke 24-20.

Stanford (1-0) at Wake Forest (0-1), noon, ACC syndication/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: Wake lost at home to a Big 12 team (Baylor) last week; this week, the Demon Deacons take on a Pac-10 team. Stanford hasn't started 2-0 since 2004.
THE LINE: Wake Forest by 3. THE PICK: Wake Forest 23-17.

Syracuse (0-1) at Penn State (1-0), noon, Big Ten Network
THE BUZZ: Orange QB Greg Paulus had a solid first outing against a Big Ten foe last week. We're betting he struggles this week as Penn State continues its "We Won't Work Up A Sweat" non-conference schedule.
THE LINE: Penn State by 28.5. THE PICK: Penn State 42-17.

Eastern Michigan (0-1) at Northwestern (1-0), noon, Big Ten Network
THE BUZZ: Eastern Michigan opened last week with a loss to Army in which the Black Knights' rushing attack dominated. Northwestern's rushing attack should dominate this one.
THE LINE: Northwestern by 19.5. THE PICK: Northwestern 42-16.

Fresno State (1-0) at Wisconsin (1-0), noon, ESPN
THE BUZZ: Both teams would prefer to win behind a physical rushing attack. Fresno has 14 wins over Big Six conference schools this decade, second-most (behind Utah's 15) for a non-Big Six program.
THE LINE: Wisconsin by 8.5. THE PICK: Wisconsin 27-20.

Iowa (1-0) at Iowa State (1-0), noon, Fox Sports Net
THE BUZZ: Call this the "Children of the Corn" showdown. Iowa barely escaped Northern Iowa last week. Can the Cyclones win for the fifth time in the past six games against the Hawkeyes in Ames?
THE LINE: Iowa by 6.5. THE PICK: Iowa 20-17.

Pittsburgh (1-0) at Buffalo (1-0), noon, Big East syndication/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: Starting with this one, Pitt plays three of its next four on the road. Buffalo's defense did a nice job against UTEP's high-powered passing attack last week, but can the Bulls shut down Pitt's ground game?
THE LINE: Pitt by 10.5. THE PICK: Pitt 22-14.

Troy (0-1) at Florida (1-0), 12:20 p.m., SEC syndication/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: Troy was torched through the air by Bowling Green last week. Even with its wide receivers corps somewhat in flux, that has to make Florida happy.
THE LINE: Florida by 36.5. THE PICK: Florida 49-10.

Marshall (1-0) at Virginia Tech (0-1), 1:30 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Marshall had to struggle to get past Southern Illinois in the opener, so this likely will be a chance for the Hokies to get their defense back in gear. But there may be no hope for the Hokies' passing attack.
THE LINE: Virginia Tech by 19. THE PICK: Virginia Tech 38-17.

Kent State (1-0) at Boston College (1-0), 2 p.m.
THE BUZZ: BC plays five consecutive conference games after this one. BC's offense looked good in the opener - but that was against a bad FCS opponent.
THE LINE: Boston College by 20.5. THE PICK: Boston College 31-14.

Arkansas State (1-0) at Nebraska (1-0), 2 p.m.
THE BUZZ: This is the second of three Sun Belt Conference opponents for Nebraska, which easily handled Florida Atlantic last week. The Huskers also play Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 26.
THE LINE: Nebraska by 23.5. THE PICK: Nebraska 42-21.

Morgan State (0-0) at Akron (0-1), 2 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Morgan State, an FCS program that went 6-6 last season, is the opponent as Akron opens its on-campus InfoCision Stadium. Sadly, that means no more Rubber Bowl for the Zips.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Akron 30-14.

Houston (1-0) at Oklahoma State (1-0), 3:30 p.m., Fox Sports Net
THE BUZZ: Houston has recorded at least 400 yards of total offense in 14 consecutive games, meaning the Cougars' offense will be a much tougher test for Oklahoma State's defense than Georgia's last week. The flipside: Oklahoma State rolled up 699 yards in whipping the Cougars 56-37 last season.
THE LINE: Oklahoma State by 15. THE PICK: Oklahoma State 45-31.

Idaho (1-0) at Washington (0-1), 3:30 p.m., Fox Sports Net Northwest/Fox College Sports Pacific
THE BUZZ: Washington has lost 15 games overall, the longest current losing streak in the nation. This is the 39th meeting in this series, and Washington leads 34-2-2. Idaho's last win came in 1905.
THE LINE: Washington by 20.5. THE PICK: Washington 45-20.

BYU (1-0) at Tulane (0-1), 3:30 p.m., ESPN2
THE BUZZ: BYU shocked Oklahoma last week and gets Florida State next week. Thus, this would have all the makings of a trap game except for one important item: Tulane is bad.
THE LINE: BYU by 17.5. THE PICK: BYU 41-17.

Louisiana Tech (0-1) at Navy (0-1), 3:30 p.m., CBS College Sports
THE BUZZ: Navy gave Ohio State a scare last week. Louisiana Tech, meanwhile, was spanked by Auburn last week. Tech better gear up to stop the run, something it couldn't do last week.
THE LINE: Navy by 7.5. THE PICK: Navy 31-27.

Notre Dame (1-0) at Michigan (1-0), 3:30 p.m., ABC
THE BUZZ: Isn't it amazing what one week - or, rather, one win - will do? Thing is, the loser of this heads back into the abyss.
THE LINE: Notre Dame by 3. THE PICK: Michigan 28-24.

East Carolina (1-0) at West Virginia (1-0), 3:30 p.m.
THE BUZZ: ECU dominated WVU last season, winning 24-3. But the Mountaineers are 12-0 at home against ECU. Including this one, the Pirates play four of their next five on the road.
THE LINE: West Virginia by 6.5. THE PICK: West Virginia 24-20.

TCU (0-0) at Virginia (0-1), 3:30 p.m., ESPNU
THE BUZZ: You hear that ticking noise? That's the clock winding down on Virginia coach Al Groh's career. TCU, meanwhile, dropped from the top of the potential "BCS busters" list to third despite not playing a game, so the Horned Frogs should be motivated.
THE LINE: TCU by 11. THE PICK: TCU 28-10.

Texas (1-0) at Wyoming (1-0), 3:30 p.m., Versus
THE BUZZ: Why is Texas playing at Wyoming? It's admirable, but, again, why is Texas playing at Wyoming?
THE LINE: Texas by 33.5. THE PICK: Texas 41-10.

Howard (0-0) at Rutgers (0-1), 3:30 p.m., Big East syndication/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: Whew. After that beatdown at the hands of Cincinnati, Rutgers gets to be the bully this week against Howard, which was 1-10 last season.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Rutgers 56-7.

UCLA (1-0) at Tennessee (1-0), 4 p.m., ESPN
THE BUZZ: Norm Chow calls the plays for UCLA. Lane Kiffin calls the plays for Tennessee. They used to be on the same offensive staff at USC - and let's just say they don't exchange Christmas cards anymore.
THE LINE: Tennessee by 9. THE PICK: Tennessee 23-16.

SMU (1-0) at UAB (1-0), 4 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Last week, UAB QB Joe Webb carved up one bad defense from Texas when he ran wild against Rice. This week, he should do the same to another bad defense from Texas.
THE LINE: UAB by 12. THE PICK: UAB 38-24.

Weber State (0-1) at Colorado State (1-0), 5 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Weber State opened the season with a loss to Wyoming. This week, the Wildcats - coached by former Utah coach Ron McBride - get to play a better Mountain West Conference team.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Colorado State 30-17.

Eastern Washington (1-0) at California (1-0), 5:30 p.m., Comcast Sports Net California
THE BUZZ: We're going all over the compass on this one. Eastern Washington opened the season last week with a win over Western Oregon. This week, the Eagles and their prolific passing attack head south; look for Cal's point total to go north of 50.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: California 56-17.

Murray State (1-0) at N.C. State (0-1), 6 p.m.
THE BUZZ: This is the first of back-to-back games against FCS foes for the Wolfpack, who should - should - be able to score more than three points in this one.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: N.C. State 37-14.

James Madison (0-0) at Maryland (0-1), 6 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Maryland was mauled last week at Cal, and the Terps better take this one seriously. James Madison was sixth in the nation in the FCS preseason coaches' poll.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Maryland 23-13.

Jacksonville State (0-1) at Florida State (0-1), 6 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Good news for Florida State is that Jacksonville State's wide receivers aren't as good as Miami's, so FSU defensive backs might actually be able to make some plays this week.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Florida State 57-13.

New Hampshire (1-0) at Ball State (0-1), 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: New Hampshire is ranked ninth in the FCS. Ball State coach Stan Parrish is in the midst of a personal 28-game losing streak as a head coach. He lost the opener last week in his first game as Ball State's head coach, and he lost the other 27 as Kansas State's coach from 1986-88.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Ball State 26-23.

South Carolina (1-0) at Georgia (0-1), 7 p.m., ESPN2
THE BUZZ: South Carolina's defense gives the Gamecocks a chance. South Carolina's offense gives Georgia a chance.
THE LINE: Georgia by 7. THE PICK: Georgia 17-13.

Ohio (0-1) at North Texas (1-0), 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: A little history lesson. The last time North Texas started 2-0? Try 1994. The last time Ohio started 0-2? Uhh, last season.
THE LINE: Ohio by 3. THE PICK: Ohio 24-17.

Rice (0-1) at Texas Tech (1-0), 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Two old Southwest Conference rivals meet up in a game Tech should win easily. Next week, though, is a trip to Texas.
THE LINE: Texas Tech by 28. THE PICK: Texas Tech 56-21.

UCF (1-0) at Southern Miss (1-0), 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Does UCF have enough offense to keep up with Southern Miss? This is an early season shakeout game in C-USA East.
THE LINE: Southern Miss by 14.5. THE PICK: Southern Miss 34-17.

Hawaii (1-0) vs. Washington State (0-1) in Seattle, 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: This is the fifth meeting, but the first time the game has not been in Honolulu. Hawaii won 24-10 last season. This is the first of three consecutive road games for Hawaii, the first time that has happened since 1964. The Warriors will stay on the mainland during the week for their game next Saturday against UNLV ; they'll then return home before traveling to Louisiana Tech for a Sept. 30 game (a Wednesday night).
THE LINE: Hawaii by 2. THE PICK: Washington State 28-23.

Air Force (1-0) at Minnesota (1-0), 7 p.m., Big Ten Network
THE BUZZ: This is the first game at the Golden Gophers' on-campus TCF Bank Stadium. Minnesota's run defense will get a stern test from Air Force's option-based attack.
THE LINE: Minnesota by 3.5. THE PICK: Air Force 37-35.

Kansas State (1-0) at Louisiana-Lafayette (1-0), 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: K-State beat the Ragin' Cajuns by eight last season in Manhattan, the Wildcats' 11th consecutive victory over a Sun Belt Conference team. ULL had five TD drives of at least 80 yards in its opening-week win over Southern.
THE LINE: Kansas State by 7. THE PICK: Kansas State 23-21.

Mississippi State (1-0) at Auburn (1-0), 7 p.m., SEC syndication/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: When these teams played last season, it set football back about 50 years (Auburn won 3-2, thanks to a game-ending double play in the ninth). Expect more offense this season.
THE LINE: Auburn by 14. THE PICK: Auburn 28-10.

Illinois State (0-1) at Illinois (0-1), 7 p.m., Big Ten Network
THE BUZZ: Illinois State's coach is Brock Spack, the former defensive coordinator at Purdue. Nothing Illinois does on offense will surprise him. Then again, nothing the Illini do on offense surprises anybody.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Illinois 38-14.

Memphis (0-1) at Middle Tennessee (0-1), 7 p.m., Comcast-Charter Sports Southeast/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: Middle opened on the road and after this plays its next three on the road. Memphis kept it close against Ole Miss for three quarters, but the Tigers fell apart in the fourth period.
THE LINE: Pick 'em. THE PICK: Memphis 31-28.

Vanderbilt (1-0) at LSU (1-0), 7 p.m., ESPNU
THE BUZZ: LSU's defense played poorly against Washington, but a visit from Vandy should be just the salve the Tigers need. Vandy hasn't won in Baton Rouge since 1951.
THE LINE: LSU by 14.5. THE PICK: LSU 31-13.

Florida International (0-0) at Alabama (1-0), 7 p.m., ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: The last time FIU played at Alabama was 2006, and FIU scored first, on a field goal. Alas, that was it for the day and Alabama rolled 38-3. The question this week: Will FIU score at all?
THE LINE: Alabama by 34. THE PICK: Alabama 49-10.

Bowling Green (1-0) at Missouri (1-0), 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: Missouri has won a school-record 11 consecutive non-conference games. Both quarterbacks - Missouri's Blaine Gabbert and BG's Tyler Sheehan - are coming off good outings.
THE LINE: Missouri by 19. THE PICK: Missouri 38-21.

Idaho State (0-1) at Oklahoma (0-1), 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: OU is without QB Sam Bradford for two to four weeks. It won't matter in this one, as your neighbor's 7-year-old son could lead the Sooners to a 50-point win over the Bengals.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Oklahoma 63-0.

Texas Southern (0-1) at Louisiana-Monroe (0-1), 7 p.m.
THE BUZZ: For the second week in a row, Louisiana-Monroe plays a school from the Lone Star State. Last week, it was Texas. This week's opponent is a lot easier.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Louisiana-Monroe 38-10.

Kansas (1-0) at UTEP (0-1), 7:30 p.m., CBS College Sports
THE BUZZ: Before the season, this looked like a dangerous game for Kansas. After last week, when UTEP lost at home to a Buffalo team breaking in new starters at quarterback and running back, it doesn't look so tough anymore.
THE LINE: Kansas by 12.5. THE PICK: Kansas 41-23.

USF (1-0) at Western Kentucky (0-1), 7:30 p.m., Big East syndication/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: Western Kentucky has won 13 consecutive home openers. For some reason, though, we think that streak ends this season.
THE LINE: USF by 24. THE PICK: USF 45-16.

Southeast Missouri State (1-0) at Cincinnati (1-0), 7:30 p.m., Fox Sports Ohio/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: Cincy coach Brian Kelly has fond memories of his first game against Southeast Missouri - a 59-3 rout in 2007 that was Kelly's first regular-season game with the Bearcats. SEMO crushed Quincy (Ill.), an NAIA school, 72-3 last week.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Cincinnati 56-9.

Western Illinois (1-0) at Northern Illinois (0-1), 7:30 p.m., Comcast Sports Net Chicago/ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: In some places, this is a huge game. Granted, we don't know where those places are, but we're sure they're out there.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Northern Illinois 24-13.

USC (1-0) at Ohio State (1-0), 8 p.m., ESPN
THE BUZZ: USC hasn't lost a non-conference regular-season game since 2002. If the Trojans' running backs come through, the streak will continue.
THE LINE: USC by 6.5. THE PICK: USC 27-17.

Tulsa (1-0) at New Mexico (0-1), 8 p.m., The mtn.
THE BUZZ: New Mexico has lost five in a row overall and hasn't lost six in a row since 1998-99. Tulsa beat the Lobos 56-14 last season.
THE LINE: Tulsa by 17.5. THE PICK: Tulsa 45-17.

Miami University (0-1) at Boise State (1-0), 8 p.m., ESPN GamePlan
THE BUZZ: Miami got hammered in its opener by Kentucky. Boise has won 50 consecutive regular-season games and has won 20 in a row at home overall.
THE LINE: Boise State by 36.5. THE PICK: Boise State 51-14.

Prairie View A&M (1-0) at New Mexico State (0-1), 8 p.m.
THE BUZZ: FCS member Prairie View A&M comes in on a six-game winning streak. New Mexico State comes in on an eight-game losing streak.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: New Mexico State 27-14.

Southern Utah (1-0) at San Diego State (0-1), 8:30 p.m.
THE BUZZ: San Diego State will look to get its moribund running game cranked up. Southern Utah QB Cade Cooper is a well-traveled young man. He signed with BYU, then left for Oregon following an injury; he then left Oregon to play for the Thunderbirds.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: San Diego State 34-14.

Northern Arizona (0-0) at Arizona (1-0), 9 p.m.
THE BUZZ: New Arizona QB Matt Scott played the whole game last week in a win over Central Michigan. Coach Mike Stoops says backup QB Nick Foles will see action this week. Scott barely beat out Foles for the starting job in camp.
THE LINE: No line. THE PICK: Arizona 38-7.

Purdue (1-0) at Oregon (0-1), 10:15 p.m., Fox Sports Net
THE BUZZ: This is the first of four consecutive home games for the Ducks, who already might be in desperation mode. They looked awful in the opening loss to Boise State. Who will pick up the slack for LeGarrette Blount? Purdue ran for 315 yards in its opening-week win over Toledo.
THE LINE: Oregon by 12. THE PICK: Oregon 27-17.

Utah (1-0) at San Jose State (0-1), 10:30 p.m., ESPNU
THE BUZZ: Utah has won a nation's-best 15 in a row. Pity poor San Jose State: The Spartans opened last week with USC, now get the Utes, which makes them the only team in the nation playing back-to-back games against teams that won BCS games last season.
THE LINE: Utah by 13.5. THE PICK: Utah 34-13.

Oregon State (1-0) at UNLV (1-0), 11 p.m., CBS College Sports
THE BUZZ: The Beavers are just the third Pac-10 team to play at UNLV; the other visits came in 1991, with UNLV beating Oregon State and losing to Washington State. Oregon State is looking for its first 2-0 start since 2005.
THE LINE: Oregon State by 7. THE PICK: Oregon State 31-21.

LAST WEEK

63-15 straight up, 15-25 against the spread.
