Hmmm, what's the tougher game ? Illini or Wolverines? Next: vs. Illinois.
2. OREGON (8-1)
OK, it's officially time to start putting Dennis Dixon in the Heisman race. Next: at Arizona (Nov. 15).
3. LSU (8-1)
Tigers get a gut-check victory over Tide. But defense better start playing better. Next: vs. Louisiana Tech.
4. OKLAHOMA (8-1)
Sooners should put up big numbers against porous Baylor defense. Next: vs. Baylor.
5. KANSAS (9-0)
Scoring 76 is impressive, no matter who you do it against. Next: at Oklahoma State.
6. MISSOURI (8-1)
Tigers rolled all over Colorado ? and no one is saying a word about the easy win. Next: vs. Texas A&M.
7. WEST VIRGINIA (7-1)
Mountaineers need style points Thursday when they host Louisville and its mediocre defense. Next: vs. Louisville (Thursday).
8. ARIZONA STATE (8-1)
Sun Devils still have good shot at finishing 11-1 and in a BCS bowl. Next: at UCLA.
9. BOSTON COLLEGE (8-1)
Ryan (and his team) needs to bounce back in big way if he wants to win Heisman. Next: at Maryland.
10. GEORGIA (7-2)
Longtime rivals get together for important game Saturday in Athens. Next: vs. Auburn.
11. USC (7-2)
Depending on what happens elsewhere, Trojans still in hunt for Rose Bowl berth. Next: at California.

Longhorns have needed fourth-quarter heroics the past two weeks. Next: vs. Texas Tech.

47. MICHIGAN STATE (5-5)
Remember when Spartans were 4-0 and people were talking about them? Well, they're talking about them in a different way now. Next: at Purdue.

Mizzou's offense is good. A&M's defense isn't much. Gee, we see another big loss for Coach Fran. Next: at Missouri.
50. GEORGIA TECH (5-4)
Calvin Johnson evidently took all of Tech's passing offense with him to the NFL. Next: at Duke.
51. LOUISVILLE (5-4)
Before the season, Thursday night's game was being talked up as a potential blockbuster. Oh, well. Next: at West Virginia (Thursday).
52. IOWA (5-5)
Iowa's offense isn't much, but playing against Gophers' defense (their word, not ours) should be a nice cure-all. Next: vs. Minnesota.
53. AIR FORCE (7-3)
Irish lost to one service academy at home last week. Can Falcons make it two in a row? Next: at Notre Dame.
54. FRESNO STATE (6-3)
Bulldogs' only hopes for an upset rest on running for at least 200 yards. Next: at Hawaii.
55. WYOMING (5-4)
Cowboys have hit a lull, and that bad streak looks likely to continue vs. Utes. Next: at Utah.
56. TROY (6-3)
All three of Trojans' losses have come to SEC teams (Arkansas, Florida, Georgia). Next: at Western Kentucky.
57. HOUSTON (6-3)
A win Saturday basically gives Cougars the C-USA West championship. Next: at Tulsa.
58. VANDERBILT (5-4)
Commodores' secondary was torched by Florida. Can Andre' Woodson do the same? Next: vs. Kentucky.
59. TCU (5-4)
Horned Frogs looked great vs. New Mexico. But they haven't played well on the road. Next: at BYU (Friday).
60. EAST CAROLINA (6-4)
Pirates in excellent shape to win C-USA East title. Next: at Marshall.
61. UCF (6-3)
To win C-USA East, Knights need to keep winning and have ECU stumble. Next: at UAB.
62. TULSA (6-3)
Tulsa's offense will have some success against Houston. Alas, Houston's offense will have some success against Tulsa. Next: vs. Houston.
63. SOUTHERN MISS (5-4)
Golden Eagles will end up bemoaning loss to Rice, which could keep them from winning C-USA East. Next: vs. Memphis.
64. INDIANA (6-4)
IU is bowl-eligible, but getting to seven wins would guarantee Hoosiers a bid. Next: at Northwestern.
65. ARIZONA (4-6)
Wildcats need two more wins for bowl-eligibility. Their remaining games? Oregon and Arizona State. Next: vs. Oregon.
66. MARYLAND (4-5)
Ralph Friedgen's Terps have underachieved this season. Offense has been the problem. Next: vs. Boston College.
67. NC STATE (4-5)
All of a sudden, Wolfpack are playing good football - and just in time for their archrival. Next: vs. North Carolina.
68. NAVY (5-4)
All hail the Middies, who ended 43 years of futility with triple-OT win at Notre Dame. Next: at North Texas.
69. NORTH CAROLINA (3-6)
Some folks would consider Butch Davis' first season with UNC a success if he can beat Wolfpack. Next: at NC State.
70. STANFORD (3-6)
Saturday's loser has good shot at finishing last in the Pac-10. Next: at Washington State.
71. WASHINGTON (3-6)
Huskies one of the few teams nationally with four games left. Next: at Oregon State.
72. WASHINGTON STATE (3-6)
As poorly as Cougars have played, they could win out (Stanford, Oregon State, Washington). Next: vs. Stanford.
73. NORTHWESTERN (5-5)
Wildcats have to beat either Indiana or Illinois to become bowl-eligible. Next: vs. Indiana.
74. IOWA STATE (2-8)
Cyclones have been playing OK football of late, and they stepped up and bit K-State on Saturday. Next: vs. Colorado.
75. PITT (4-5)
True freshman TB LeSean McCoy is the real deal. Now, Panthers need to get more talent around him. Next: at Rutgers (Nov. 17).
76. BALL STATE (5-5)
Ball State's next two games are vs. bad teams, and 7-5 record could get Cardinals a bowl bid. Next: vs. Toledo (Nov. 13).
77. OLE MISS (3-7)
OK, we're dense. Tell us again why David Cutcliffe was fired? Next: vs. LSU (Nov. 17).
78. NEVADA (5-4)
Wolf Pack have week off to get ready for high-powered Hawaii offense. Next: vs. Hawaii (Nov. 16).
79. NEBRASKA (4-6)
This week, Huskers will play without defensive coaches. Hey, it can't get any worse, right? Next: vs. Kansas State.
80. CENTRAL MICHIGAN (5-4)
Central Michigan has won 11 of its past 12 MAC regular-season games. Next: vs. Western Michigan (Tuesday).
81. MIAMI UNIVERSITY (5-5)
RedHawks' victory over Buffalo gives them inside track to MAC East title. Next: vs. Akron (Nov. 14).
82. UTEP (4-5)
We thought this week's game was a lock for Miners. But if you lose to Rice, you can lose to anybody. Next: at Tulane.
83. BOWLING GREEN (5-4)
Falcons have a chance to win out. And you have to figure 8-4 gets them a bowl bid. Next: at Eastern Michigan (Friday).
84. NOTRE DAME (1-8)
Final three games: Air Force, Duke and Stanford. Is 1-11 really possible? Next: vs. Air Force.
85. SAN DIEGO STATE (3-5)
Aztecs QB Kevin O'Connell is having a pretty nice season. Next: at UNLV.
86. UNLV (2-7)
In one of more bizarre outcomes this season, UNLV beat Utah by 27 points. Next: vs. San Diego State.
87. DUKE (1-8)
A 1-11 record beckons. Ahh, big deal: Basketball season starts soon. Next: vs. Georgia Tech.
88. SAN JOSE STATE (3-6)
Spartans have been beaten by a combined 72-7 the past two games. Next: vs. New Mexico State.
89. LOUISIANA TECH (4-5)
Bulldogs get to go against their "neighbors" this week. Too bad those neighbors won't be feeling neighborly. Next: at LSU.
90. MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE (5-5)
Blue Raiders have won four in a row since two-point loss to Virginia on Oct. 6. Next: vs. La.-Lafayette.
91. OHIO U. (5-5)
Resurgent Bobcats have won three of their past four. Next: at Akron (Wednesday).
92. KENT STATE (3-6)
Fading away: Golden Flashes have lost four in a row. Next: at Northern Illinois.
93. FLORIDA ATLANTIC (4-4)
Owls still have a shot Sun Belt Conference title and resultant New Orleans Bowl bid. Next: vs. Arkansas State.

As bad as Tigers are ? and they're bad ? they still have good shot at bowl-eligibility. Next: at Southern Miss.
100. BAYLOR (3-7)
Bears have allowed at least 30 points in six consecutive games. OU will make it seven. Next: at Oklahoma.
101. MINNESOTA (1-9)
Golden Gophers rank last in the nation in total defense, at 548.5 yards per game. Next: at Iowa.

Weird but true: Saturday's 56-48 win over UTEP was second 56-48 game Owls have played this season. Next: at SMU.
103. SYRACUSE (2-7)

Rockets average 36.5 points per game. Not bad, huh? They also surrender 39.2 points per game. Next: at Ball State (Nov. 13).

Hilltoppers have won three in a row ? but each came against a Division I-AA program. Next: vs. Troy.
106. ARKANSAS STATE (4-5)
Consistent, if nothing else. The Indians have allowed at least 21 points in each game. Next: at Florida Atlantic.

Each of Black Knights' past three losses has been by at least 20 points. Next: vs. Rutgers (Friday).
108. LA.-MONROE (3-6)
Senior TB Calvin Dawson has eight 100-yard games this season and is 10th in nation in rushing. Next: vs. Grambling.
109. EASTERN MICHIGAN (3-7)
Eagles have lost five of their past six and likely will finish out by losing seven of final eight. Next: vs. Bowling Green (Friday).
110. NEW MEXICO STATE (4-6)
Two of the Aggies' victories have come against I-AA programs. Next: at San Jose State.
111. UAB (2-7)
Blazers are the first of four consecutive C-USA teams to be ranked this low. Next: vs. UCF.
112. MARSHALL (1-8)
Thundering Herd have one of the worst defenses in the nation. Next: vs. East Carolina.
113. TULANE (2-7)
Good news for Tulane. It will be able to run on UTEP. Bad news for Tulane. It won't be able to stop UTEP's offense. Next: vs. UTEP.
114. SMU (1-7)
Gary Barnett has expressed interest in becoming Mustangs' next coach. Next: vs. Rice.
115. NORTHERN ILLINOIS (1-8)
Huskies have lost their past two games by a combined 90 points. Next: vs. Kent State.
116. NORTH TEXAS (1-7)
Mean Green have a pitiful rush defense. That's not good with Navy next on the schedule. Next: vs. Navy.
117. LA.-LAFAYETTE (1-8)
Last week, Cajuns were shellacked at Tennessee. This week, they again play in that state. Next: at Middle Tennessee.
118. IDAHO (1-9)
Lone win this season came over a 6-3 Division I-AA team. Next: at Boise State.
119. UTAH STATE (0-9)
We're pretty sure that Utah State isn't going to get on the winning side of the ledger this week. Next: vs. Boise State.
120. FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL (0-9)
Last-play FG by Arkansas State extended losing streak to 21 in a row. Next: vs. La-Lafayette (Nov. 17).
