Elite corner set to announce his decision
With scholarship offers in hand from almost every major college powerhouse in the entire nation, DeSoto cornerback Adrian White can pretty much write his own ticket.
As one of the state's top overall prospects, White's been one of the most discussed prospects in the Lone Star State since his emergence as a sophomore more than 14 months ago.
In less than a week, White's evolution as a college prospect will reach its apex when he announces his college decision.
With the DeSoto boy's basketball team in Austin for the state tournament, White has decided to announce his decision on Austin's ESPN 1530-AM during the 4PM hour of The Drive.
"He considered offers from more than 20 schools and has narrowed his list to five," Adrian White Sr. confirmed on Sunday afternoon. "Florida, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas and USC are the five schools that he is still considering."
White's father indicated that their family had been in contact with all of schools in recent weeks, including a recent discussion with USC's Ken Norton Jr., and the now the process of finalizing a decision is under way.
"He's taken his time during this process, but he doesn't want to carry his recruitment until signing day," White Sr. said. "He'll be able to concentrate on his senior season and getting ready for his graduation.
The 5-11, 170-pound White is set to graduate from DeSoto in December and will enroll at his future school in January of 2010. In preparing for the transition to college, White has also been working with former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Larry Brown and former Olympic gold medalist sprinter Jon Drummond on improving his skill and speed.
White currently holds offers from more than two dozen schools, including his final five and other schools like LSU, Nebraska, Tennessee, Stanford, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.
