City Leaguer to attend Junior Day
Jim Snyder
Panther-lair.com One of the 2008 prospects to hold an early offer from the University of Pittsburgh is Ed Tinker (6' 3" 195) from Brashear High School.
The Pantherlair caught up with Tinker this past weekend and he informed us he was on his way to the Peterson Events Center to watch Pitt play Providence. The Panthers won in a hard fought battle on Saturday by holding off the Friars 74-68.
Tinker told the Pantherlair, "I will also be going back next weekend for a Junior Day." Pitt is expected to host approximately 70 juniors next Saturday when the Panthers basketball team hosts Washington from the PAC 10 Conference.
In an earlier interview Brashear head coach Ed Wabby said, "Ed Tinker is a big kid who can really pick them up. He is about 6' 3" tall and runs the 40 in approximately 4.4 seconds."
This past fall Tinker helped the Bulls to an 8-5 record and a berth in the Class AAAA state playoffs. Tinker caught 30 passes for 453 yards for an average of 15.1 yards per catch. Tinker said, "Because of my size they like to throw it to me when we get near the goal line."
Tinker also returned 2 punts and an interception for scores last fall.
Tinker also plays basketball for Brashear. The Bulls are now 12-9 overall. Tinker said, "We are doing OK. We play Langley next. I think we can beat them and be in the playoffs."
Earlier this year Tinker attended Pitt basketball games when the Panthers played Georgetown and St John's.
Tinker said, "I have been getting text messages from Michigan State, Minnesota, Temple and Iowa asking me to come to their camps."
Last fall Tinker was a first team All-City League selection. He was also picked to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Fabulous 22 South team.
