OU players looking for crowd control
Uwe Von Shamann is famous for taking over a conductor's role at Ohio Stadium on Sept. 24th, 1977. But Paul Thompson and the Oklahoma offense would like nothing more than to take over as conductors of the Autzen Stadium crowd this Saturday.
Oregon's Autzen Stadium has built a national reputation for being one of the fiercest college football stadiums in the country. Although Autzen seats only 54,000 fans, it's said that stadium overhangs echo crowd noise directly onto the playing surface.
ESPN even named the stadium among it's Top 10 Intimidating Stadiums.
What that means to Oklahoma's offense is anyone's guess. The Sooners have played in rumbling environments on a regular basis, Texas A&M being at the top of the list.
Crowd noise is a way of life whenever Oklahoma hits the road.
"I think everybody is always ready for us," said Kevin Wilson when asked about the possibility of a deafening crowd in Eugene.
