Minnesota campers earn four offers
Collegiate summer camps have long been a tool for college coaches to uncover hidden talent or have a chance to get a first hand look at players on the bubble for a scholarship offer. Minnesota held their annual four-day camp on June 11th-14th. Four players showed enough at camp to earn a coveted scholarship offer from the Golden Gophers. Minnesota offensive linemen Ryan Orton and Chris Bunders of Eden Prairie and Osseo were joined by Wisconsin tight end Patrick Butrym and Illinois cornerback Michal Bolden as the latest players to receive Golden offers. Orton pulled the trigger on the spot and committed to Head Coach Glen Mason, but the other three have decided to take their time before making any decisions.
Orton, a 6-foot-4, 265 pound guard from Eden Prairie, knew immediately that Minnesota was where he wanted to be.
Orton was not the only offensive lineman to receive an offer at camp. Bunders (6-foot-3, 306 pounds) from Osseo High School received an offer shortly after camp.
Waukesha (WI) Memorial Catholic tight end Patrick Butrym (6-foot-5, 245 pounds) also picked up an offer for Minnesota just days after camp.
