Williams to the NFL?
None of Georgia's underclassmen have officially declared for the NFL Draft, but junior safety Shawn Williams could be getting close.
Wednesday afternoon, Williams confirmed in a text to UGASports that he is considering making the jump to the NFL, although a final decision has not been made.
"I don't know," Williams said when asked if he would be making the leap. "My chances with the league are looking good."
Williams was one of a number of draft-eligible Bulldogs who sent in their names to the NFL Advisory Board.
The deadline for players applying to be part of the NFL Draft is Jan. 15.
Williams wasn't sure when he might make a final decision.
"I don't know," he said.
With seven stops in Georgia's 33-30 triple overtime loss to Michigan State, Williams finished as the Bulldogs' leading tackler in 2011 with 72.
Other Bulldogs who are considering an early move to the NFL include junior tight end Orson Charles, junior cornerback Branden Smith, junior linebacker Cornelius Washington and junior safety Bacarri Rambo. Draft-eligible sophomore Jarvis Jones and junior nose John Jenkins have both said they are coming back to Georgia for another year.
